Danish synthpop duo releases debut album
“Something New” through MajorDigital
Hamburg, 13
th January 2009. – With their album title “Something New”,
ANTILLES seem to tell their listeners: Watch out, here comes something special. And they keep their promise, even though they avowedly revive the glorious 80s with their playful electronic sound.
Musician David and vocalist Anne Christine, who started out as a folk singer, have been working together since 2005. Their first recording as a duo, “A Different Place”, is included on their first album. The atmospheric track proves how well these two artists complement one another. Since 2005,
ANTILLES have created joyful pop tracks like the opener “Longing For The Spring” as well as calm ones such as “Another Day”, where Anne Christine’s warm voice is especially brilliant.
The electronic pop of
ANTILLES is catchy and melodic, often gentle and dreamy. Some tracks are contemplative, without displaying any artificial gloominess. ANTILLES continue a long tradition of New Romantic Pop, being sometimes reminiscent of Italo-Disco, only with more depth, or X-Perience, only with less sugar. The pure synthpop is enriched by some deliberate accoustic elements. The magical piano version of “Friendly Fire” shows that David and Anne Christine are able to fascinate their audience also when they set the computers aside.
The album “Something New” by
