This is an absolute brilliant record for every electro pop fan. ‘Electropop Heroes’ proves once again that there’s more to get in electro-land than only dazed songs. It kicks off with the infectious ‘Beauty In Me (Barfly edit)’ from Stisch feat. Magnus Carlson and the following funny Kitty K & the K ‘2 Short 4 Who?’ leaves a lot of eighties inspired bands searching for air (‘Gwen Stefani eat your heart out!’). The cover of ‘Shout’ (Sophie Rimheden/ Hakan Lidbo) needs some time to sink in, because of the much slower pace and female voices. Univaque shows that electroclash is something inspiring if you do it right (‘Nothing Can Be Saved (Nemesis Mix By Alice In Videoland) and Hype found the right balance between the eighties sound and the current electronica (‘Bounce’ Heavy Hangers Mix). After that Daybehavior (‘Superstar’ electropopmix), the funny Conetik (‘Elektronova’), Michigan (with a dance version of their most emotional song ‘Control Of Me’ - Strange Mannequin), Monofader (with the NamNamBulu like ‘Behind’) and the heavier Z Prochek (‘Viewers’ Hero edit) prove that there’s enough variation on this record. There are also songs from Moulin Noir, Lowe, Backlash (with a very recognizable tune), Universal Poplab (with an electro the Cure like song with ‘We Hate It When Our Friends Become Successful’ robodoll remix), Bobby (very eighties like), Fairlight Children and Blipp. A fine record with a lot of unreleased material.Â
