Sevren Ni-Arb, Raive Yarx and Estefania, also known as André Schmechta, Thorsten Schmechta and Stefanie Eckmann-Schmechta made a convincing return after more than ten years with the single Seventeen, a song that is included on this comeback album called Inner Zone Journey. X-Marks The Pedwalk released some classy EBM during the early 90s, made a change towards techno-dance and crossover-industrial during the mid-90s and called it quits in 1998. As 'oldschool' EBM is going through a revival this album comes at the right time and fortunately X-Marks The Pedwalk hits the mark as Inner Zone Journey is most pleasant. It may not have the sharp edges of the earlier work, but that has been compensated by a catchy and accessible style that makes this album attractive for a disctinctly broader audience. "Obscure reason" for example is very much a slice of pop although you never get the feeling that X-Marks The Pedwalk wants to sell out. EBM can have an amiable side. "Winter comes tomorrow" comes closest to the original style of the band in that respect. "Runaway", "Seventeen" and "Clean hearts" are dancefloor fillers whereas "Sattelite" adds a reflective mode to the album. "Lifeline", the relaxed "Human scientists" and the melancholic, dark-hued "Stripped by tears" are some other highpoints of this delightful album that closes off with the sober, grey instrumental track "Distant rain". X-Marks The Pedwalk pleases its fans with Inner Zone Journey.
