Retribution

<< Back

Retribution is my very first Acquaintance with this American band. And my first impression is good. The trashy American Heavy-Metal is brute and sound melodic at the same time. Bands with a traditional sound flirt with the nowadays sound of Nu-Metal and Emo-core, that is nothing new. Especial American band like this combination. And the gentlemen of Shadows Fall have done this is a very fair and unique way. The multi-vocals of Brian Fair are clean, catchy and a bit cliché but are also very raw and aggressive almost grunt-like when needed. He is a very skilled singer and does the band a lot of good. Musically the band is very good too. The harsh and aggressive riffs are nice and are alternated by some slow and intense parts. Something a traditional Heavy-Metal band can’t go without are guitar solo’s, and on this album they are presented of course. They are fast, rough and have a nice flow, just as I like it. There is only one tiny dislike on this album. The production is a bit too polished for my taste. All arrangements are a smooth and save now. But maybe that is my personal taste.. I think this band has a lot of potential, and the adolescent youngsters of this generation will definitely like this record.
