Dunkelwerk is a dark electro project with a very symphonic sound. The debut album Troops dealed with war as theme and this new album has horror, vampirism and dark fairytales as theme. Orchestral arrangements and electronic sound Losttrooper has created a haunting soundscape on this album. Hollenbrut is a better album than Troops, which regarding thematics was too close to projects such as Feindflug. The bleak romanticism on Hollenbrut fits the musical atmosphere created by Dunkelwerk with its symphonic approach. It furthermore is quite pleasurable to listen to an endzeit electro recording without pitched and distorted screaming vocals. The only negative aspect remains the heavy German accent of the singer but this complaint is not valid when the lyrics are in German and this is the case with about half of the tracks. With regard to music Dunkelwerk this time manages to deliver with an interesting orchestral dark electro album. Fans of for instance X-Fusion and The Retrosic should try and check the music of Dunkelwerk.
