Amor Vincit Omnia

<< Back

Love conquers all is the motto of the British progressive rock band Pure Reason Revolution on their sophomore album. Musically this band is a surprising discovery to me. Seemingly effortless they combine indie rock with progressive influences and at other moments vocal harmonies with electro beats. The songs are highly infectious yet contain pretty much musical depth and the vocals of Jon Courtney are excellent. Compared to the debut The Dark Third this new album lays more emphasis on the electronic sounds, but musically it still is rock solid. On Amor Vincit Omnia it is like it is Soulwax who jam with Depeche Mode, Muse and Smashing Pumpkins. A very daring and refreshing album that with each listening unveils more of its secrets, while the songs already sounded familiar with the first time too. Strange but very good. Pure Reason Revolution might just be a band that will get a break through with a larger audience.
