Halfbreed

<< Back

HPC is a Norwegian electronic one man project that with its approach chooses a sound of their own with influences from various electronic genres, such as industrial, breakcore, dubstep and especially dark ambient. When you listen to the freezing cold sounds in combination with the spoken samples the most important musical influence is obvious: Biosphere. Not bad at all if it is performed as good as on Halfbreed, as HPC creates a sound completely their own by merging these cold layers of dark ambient with heavy breaks, dubstep influences and samples that remind of film music but also with regard to the dialogs of talking people of the first Scanner albums. HPC manages to create a beautiful balance between these heavy bass frequencies, soundtrack samples and synthesizer textures with the freezing cold sound as most dominating factor. Highlights are the ominous sounding tracks ‘Dissociate’ and ‘Machine’. Halfbreed is an especially strong debut album.
