H8

<< Back

The first thing you think of when hearing the guitar riffs and vocals in ‘Zero Mission’, the first song on the H8 record from Godsplague, is Phil Anselmo and Pantera. The vocals of the singer however also have a side that resembles the voice of Mikke Patton. Godsplague hails from Finland and combines alternative rock with heavy metal. Godsplague shows on this third album from 2007, which recently has also been made available to the rest of the European market by the Drakkar label, heavy rocking guitars and drums which make a comparison with Metallica likely too. Listen for example to ‘All You Are / J.F.D.L’. In Between all the guitar violence there is also space for a more melodic moment and ballad like vocal intermezzo’s. At these moments the comparison to Mike Patton is most striking. ‘I Will Break You’ has straightforward qualities to become a single. Furthermore recommended are ‘Into Oblivion’, ‘Hope’, ‘Timebomb’ and ‘4130 / Don’t Come Back’. Suitable for fans of Metallica, C.O.C., Pantera and Black Label Society.
