Reversing Time

<< Back

Neverland is a very unique project. This co-operation between the Turkish Progressive/Power Metal band Dreamtone and the Greek singer Iris Mavaraki started in 2006 and was a big challenge. Iris is a classical singer and has a completely different background than that of Metal Music. She worked together with Pink Floyd in 1981 and toured with entire symphony orchestras throughout Turkey. Dreamtone on the other hand is one of Turkey’s most famous Metal acts and proudly opened shows for Megadeath and Dream Theater. Blind Guardian picked them up to open their shows in Turkey. The combined energy of Iris and Dreamtone led to a very interesting album. Neverland has some very familiar guest on their debut album. Hansi KĂĽrsch (Blind Guardian), Tom Englund (Evergrey) and the Philarmonia Istanbul Orchestra! This gives a very pleasant touch at the album.
“Reversing Time” is a very strong Power/Symphonic Metal album and got me in their power. The fantasy lyrics are great and the structures of the music are well done and go perfectly hand in hand with the lyrics. The Turkish accent of Oganalp Canatan can not be missed and his  vibrating way of singing is something I had to get used to. But it is not at all irritating. It gives a emotional tough at the songs. Listening to “Reversing Time” was great. All the songs are strong and very well build. I even recommend it to my friends. Highlights of the album are “Shooting Star”, “Reversing Time”, “Black Water”, “Mountain of Judgement” and the instrumental beauty “Transcending Miracle” in which the orchestra plays a big role. I really hope this special co-opreration will not end after this record.
