Maria Nascenti doesn’t ring a bell with me but the album is produced by Fabrizio Modonese Palumb, known from Larsen which is a familiar name. The music on this album reminds strongly of GYBE as well as Coil and Nurse With Wound at their most song friendly moments. Peculiar but very real, the emotions and sound colors on this album are very rich and diverse. This is a very emotional and explorative recording. The one moment it could serve as a soundtrack for your most extraordinary nightmare and the next moment it sounds like a sweet lullaby. Found sounds, recited lyrics, otherworldly melodies, classical piano play, guitars, electronic experimenting and intense drones. The classic acoustic instruments ensure that nice intervals of tranquillity are featured in the more experimental parts. Raise Your Paw sounds like a supersonic rollercoaster ride through sounds and all sorts of emotions. Those who love experimental music and the sounds of the above names could very likely enjoy Maria Nascenti too. It is quite special for sure. For me personally, it lacks the necessary structure, except for a couple of tracks.
