Twinkle consists of Yves Cornu and J.B.LeDuc and they already have an EP out named Processing Industry. Le Jouet is the first recording of Twinkle that gets released by the French Audiotrauma industrial label in cooperation with the well-known Ant-Zen label and it is expected that this will result in more fame for Twinkle with these enhanced distribution options. Performing at Maschinenfest will without doubt contribute to that too, since the introduction of the blooming French industrial in the German scene could very appropriately be done by Twinkle. This new album from Twinkle shows a remarkable progression. The music of Twinkle on Le Jouet has a fresh approach with elements from triphop, filmmusic and industrial blended in an exciting amalgam of sounds. Le Jouet thematically deals with the various aspects of toys, the pretended innocence of ‘real’ toys such as a Barbie, humans using toys for specific forms of roleplaying and deadly weapons that are used as toys by grown ups. The tracks on Le Jouet have been cleverly divided with an almost perfect tension span with a first half dominated by complex atmospheres with sampling, film music like moments, rhythms with triphop influences, noisescapes and in the second half the harsher and faster paced rhythms, tribal techno influences and industrial soundscapes get the overhand. The danceable tracks are mostly in the second half of the album, with ‘Tu Es Perdu’ as striking highlight.
