Sous Hypnose is the first new Vrombfulle length cd recording since Mémoires Paramoléculaires in 2002. As the title indicates this time the theme is hypnosis and is the intention to simulate a hypnosis session such as a hypnotherapist conducts. The process in which someone gets into hypnosis is a process which bypasses the critical thinking faculties and establishes a type of selective perception. Different stages can be identified in this process: preparation, induction (with normal awareness changing into a state of enhanced relaxation), deepening (with the relaxed state changing into the fully hypnotized state, where conscious thinking is minimized), purpose (where the person in hypnotic state is asked to do or say things) and eventually awakening (when the person is taken out of the hypnotic state of awareness). The music on Sous Hypnose of the Canadian Vromb correspons with these stages and changes from rhythmic, to induce a state of trance, in surrealistic soundscapes consisting of ambient drones with unrecognizable voices, clicks and sounds, whereafter a constant but everchanging flow takes over. Finally, different sounds and a processed female voice sounds, which should bring you back into a normal state of consciousness. You can see this recording as a nice experiment although it will differ from an actual hypnosis session. You can also see this recording simply as a new release from Vromb. A high quality stalemate of electronic music, which in itself is already special and beautiful enough, to give it a listen.
