Ritual

<< Back

Bipol is the solo project of Andreas Brinkert, the other half of the duo that together forms the rhythmic industrial project Punch Inc. Bipol is only founded in 2005 so is quite a young project. Andreas however does take his experience from working with Ars Moriendi and Rasputeen with him. The title of this work only partly covers the package though. The music is industrial, with repetitive patterns, drones and electronic tribal beats. A ritual atmosphere is created that reminds of times before powernoise and rhythmic industrial music took over in industrial music. At the strongest moments the music gives you an awkward feeling and at times unpleasantly claustrophobic too, which is clearly demonstrated with the tracks 'Ritual Murder', 'Reproduction II' and 'Sweet Bombs'. This hypnotic touch that feels like a cold hand around your neck is unfortunately not present in all of the tracks. In many tracks the monotony is dominant. The industrial of Bipol has similarities to the music of Punch Inc. at those moments, be it without the punch, which makes it a bit boring. The impact with which the technoid industial remix of the last track by Moctan kicks in, only confirms the shortcomings of this first Bipol album.
