Alien Nation

Interview:
- Syrian: Kosmonauta

<< Back

Syrian started in 2001 as a gothic-electronic orientated project by Voyager, but soon as Andylab joined as lead singer their sound changed more into a clubby kind of electronic music.
Their third album 'Alien nation' could have been titled 'Club hits', because most tracks on it sound 'clubhitverdächtig', and would be a success on any parties' dancefloor.
Besides that, Syrian also has something to tell with their lyrics, even though 'Alien nation' is not a conceptalbum like the previous releases. Subject is mainly the future, but in a way it's more than just science fiction, also having means in today's life.

Sometimes a dark shadow within it, like the titletrack, but most of it sounds fresh and light-hearted, but with the addition of some guitars Syrian makes a difference with most other electro acts, like giving the songs some more depth. If not dancing, the sound is also the right one to dream along with the songs, like a journey through different worlds and spaces. And you don't have to be a Star Trek fan to enjoy it.

'Supernova', featuring guest vocals by Alphaville singer Marian Gold and mixed by Sebastian Komor (Icon of Coil), is the most striking track on 'Alien nation', but not the only clubhit. 'Musika Atomika', 'Destiny sunrise' 'Solarchaser' and the best song on the album 'Speed of light' are just as well worth listening to and dancing on.
