This recording of Igor Krutogolov (also known from Agnivolok and a whole range of other projects) has been made with the help of Ido Azaria and Yariv Talmor and has an ingenious concept. The title is White, and in everything with regards to this release from the Israelian Topheth Prophet, the serenity associated with the colour white returns: in the artwork, the booklet with the empty pages and the music itself, that is very spatial of character and where the sound of the rain plays a major part. The music feels like a warm blanket and sounds very intriguing, you will hear the rain, the sound of rumbling thunder and a swelling keyboard sound, with some subtle sounds of bells, flutes or birds. Next we are introduced to an atmosphere towards the Oriental with singing that sounds like it’s Chinese, while shortly thereafter the music reflects neo-classical undertones. At the end of the album the listener finds himself in an almost 30 minutes lasting composition that almost solely consists of the sound of rain with subtle added sounds every now and then. White is a truly unique recording and will be enjoyed by those who for instance can also appreciate the work of Chaos as Shelter or Andrew Liles and i am totally psyched about it. I highly recommend this to those who truly enjoy an honest ambient recording.
