The music reminds sometimes of that little yellow beast that was used in those jeans commercials. Most of the songs of Roger Rotor got a beat that got the same rhythm as the music used for those commercials (listen to ‘The Bastard Burns In My Head’ and ‘Under The Cross’). Thankfully Roger Rotor got more depth, because opener ‘Institoris’ shows that the man can built up songs slowly into different layers and more varied beats. For Ant-Zen this release is pretty accessible. Mostly releases of Ant-Zen got some exciting noisy dancing stuff on their CD, but Roger Rotor creates ten dance floor fillers. By the use of a monotonously repeating beat is the music of “Malleus Maleficarum” accessible for more and different people. (Dark)electro fans should give this release a chance as well. The only thing is that there’s no singing on this record (for people who mind), but just like the yellow creature this music is nicely for tapping your fingers on the desk, head bang a little and – of course – to dance on…
