Nyx

<< Back

Nyx is the best album of M2. Nyx goes deeper than it’s predecessors and sounds incredibly great. Previous albums War of Sound explored sci-fi and fantasy thematics, Aswad the oriental take and Frozen Spark sounded haunting and dark, yet Nyx is the most complete and uncompromising album of M2 so far. Nyx and her descendants represent the dark side of Greek mythology. Of course the dark creatures such as Moros, Thanatos, Hypnos, Eris, Nemesis, Klotho, Lachesis and Atropos are aurally implemented by deep drones, rambling netherworldly sounds, basses and disturbing soundscapes. But at times you will hear a sound that knocks you out of your alpha state of consciousness which you were lured in to, so you will be alert and again listening with full attention. You’ll find almost no rhythms here, except for ‘Nemesis’, where instead pulsating basses and deep drones ensure you will completely lose all sense of time. There is a suggeston of movement, but it is like this is taking place in a completely other dimension of time on a different scale, that you can’t reach. Epic and grand, the sound of tectonic plates in movement. You need to listen to this on a good audioset with headphones adjusted. Ingenious.
