I can see the woods from my window, the sky is dark but some autumn sun is caressing the coloured leaves, deep red to orange, yellow and some distinctive shades of brown. There is almost no wind and I can already hear the coming thunder, it’s coming closer very slowly. The atmosphere is still warm and dense and the clouds are becoming more massive, changing shapes in harmonious waves. From my speakers is a palette of autumn sounds are reaching my ears .The perfect soundtrack for the spectacle I behold. Phelios makes dark ambient in the vein of Reason d’être and is as just as good. This may be not the most original album but the standard is high and I can say no more than this is your autumn soundtrack. An ambient feast in six episodes going seamless into one and other. Darkscape is a beautiful percussive and ritualistic piece with a deep melody. Fascinating! Inspired by the books of H.P. Lovecraft Phelios made a 16 minutes track called mountains of madness which is of pure dark beauty. Cthulu is awakening from his timeless slumber and Phelios is its prophet. Iä! Iä! Cthulu Ftagn. You almost can the feel the cold wind blow over the land from the shadow of times. This track also reminds me a little of Coph Nia.
I can recommend this record to everyone who likes dark ambient. Dark and harmonious with slow shifting melodies, just awesome.
