Social Phobia

Interview:
- Dioxyde Suicide

<< Back

Marco Calvo surprised in 2002 with Torschlusspanik, via the now defunct Dying Culture label, a heavy dark electro cd in the direction of Suicide Commando and Hocico. That cd had club hits like als ‘Days of Decay’, ‘Scent of Flesh’ and ‘Muertos Todos’, now freely downloadable from the Dioxyde website. It lasted more than 3 years before a follow-up was announced partly due to a heavy motorcycle accident Marco was involved in, but now there is Social Phobia, this time released on the Noise Terror Productions label led by Johan van Roy himself. Dioxyde can be placed in the same corner as their big inspirator Suicide Commando with gloomy predominantly slow dark electro. The best tracks are ‘Cae La Presion’, ‘Invasive Therapy’ and ‘Vida Rota’. These tracks are remixed as well by Tactical Sekt, Agonoize and Feindflug. Finally noteworthy are the tracks ‘Words of Judas’, ’11 M’ and the guitar driven ‘Money Trial’. Johan van Roy does guest vocals on ‘Words of Judas’ and ‘Invasive Therapy’. This recording of Dioxyde offers nothing new in the realms of dark electro of course, but it is a fairly good release to buy, especially for fans of the older Hocico and Suicide Commando sound. It is a bit late though, as this album could have been released easily about two or three years ago.
