Beyond Humanity

<< Back

It has been a while since i last got surprised by a good futurepop-eb album. Pride & Fall did an attempt that partly succeeded with Elements of Silence. Interface tries to take the electropop approach instead of atmospheric EBM but convinces more often with it as well. I only knew Interface from some tracks, but you can hear for sure that Jonny and Eric from Long island New York already have been around since 1993. Right after the intro the coolest track f the album ‘Age of Computers’ kicks in. This track is known from Cryonica Tanz V 4.0 already and this is a lovely track suitable for the dancefloor. Interface brilliantly knows to combine accessible melodies with uptempo beats and rhythms. There is also experiment, such as can be heard in ‘Stranger in a Strange Land’ or ‘Insomniac’ but Interface is at it’s best in the uptempo futurepop tracks, as you can hear in ‘Despair’, ‘Faith in Nothing’ and the of Funker Vogt reminding ‘Nobody’s Hero’. Add clear vocals, that at moments sound slightly distorted and strong songs to it and you get yourself a very spontaneous nice EBM album. The bonus tracks on the expanded edition consist of the pop song ‘Doubts and Fears’ and a series of strong remixes by the hand of a.o. Assemblage 23, Stromkern, Combichrist and Imperative Reaction. Especially the Assemblage 23 and Combichrist remixes have been done quite good. Beyond Humanity is highly recommended to fans of The Azoic, Cut.Rate.Box or Assemblage 23.
