Valentines day 2006, Lips & Sacky, aka Licky, release their new CD and as they say it is "The hottest shit to hit the streets since my dog took a crap this morning" or better "Cult Lo-Fi Disco Punk Style" my ass.
"A band Called Licky" sets the pace, funny vocals and lots of hi-hats give this tracks a nice drive. Only the historical opening line 1,2,3,4 prevents you from thinking that the Ramones have been reincarnated in a sleazy electro-trashy revision of the real deal. Throughout the album you still feel the touch from these punk heroes with "Olympic Sex Gold Medalist" as the ultimate "1,2,3,4" Ramones-sensation. "Fancy Pants" is for me one of the best songs. With an eighties touch and feel and a cool Men Without Hats "Safety Dance" gimmic. But also the fun factor in "Mista Big Spenda" and "128 Bits of You" are worth mentioning.
Not enough raw electro and not enough straight forward punk. Although it is the perfect tool, on a friday night, before clubbing, to say to your friends "Dudes, listen what I found" and shove them "Pretend to be Gay" or "Goth Girls" up their ....ss.
