Icarus EP

An impressive list of names is written on the cover of this release of Golgotha. Collaborative tracks with none other then Herbst9 and Sixth Comm. Reading the website also gives us info on an upcoming track on the 'Saw 2' soundtrack with and by Charlie Clouser, which is something most artists can only dream of.

Above info, together with knowing the short tracks which were released earlier on the sampler '...in the crystal cage', I was quite anxious to hear this release and I sadly have to say it's not what I expected.

The ambient tracks are very good; the term soundsculpturing has gotten a true meaning through Christoph D. And the track where ambient is being combined with neofolk-ish background sounds also came out very well, good atmosphere, very good production.

And here we go again, straightforward neofolk just isn't my thing. It might be pretty good (it reminds me of some C93, DIJ tracks in fact) but vocals must be able to 'carry' a track. And all used vocals (except for the backing vocals by Ildiko) are just not powerful enough to do so.

Work on those vocals for the next release or maybe focus on that gorgeous dark ambient music.
