Sto Correndo

<< Back

Sto Correndo is the not so predictable or stereotype debut album from the Italian trio, Carlo Spera & Stereonoise. 15 tracks, a more than 60 minutes lasting trip through the world of electronics with influences from all possible musical genres, a touch of jazz and blues, a wink to 80s electro and more than once this release is flirting with poppy structures. To give an impression on how versatile this release is, it is allready praised in the alternative jazz world where musicians as Bugge Wesseltoft set the rules. Mario Massa's sensitive play on the trumpet will certainly add on to this. The very good and never overloaded productions use Italian, which are never annoying, and English lyrics. Narrowing this release to one specific genre is not done, if I have to give a description, the best would probably be "breaks-electronics with a touch of Italian class and flair".
Brainstorm for example, a more danceable uptempo song, has some clear 80s wave influences, as if it has been growing next to a Clock DVA record. Il grande gladiatore, litoralle and dancefloor are funky/acid jazz productions. Titletrack Sto Correndo and acid age are easy listening ambient techno tracks, ti muovie e danzi and il fantasma are more electro and bass driven.
I doubt that this release will be a massive hit within the die-hard electro/industrial/goths scene, nevertheless it is a nice cd which sounds will, next to st-germain and laurent garnier, float over my terras many summernights.
