Weltenwende

<< Back

The label Heidenvolk of Darkwood’s Henryk Vogel decided this year to re-release the 10 inch vinyl release the neofolk label Eis & Licht released in 2003, only this time as a cd release, with extra songs. Thus you will find the 8 tracks of Weltenwende on this cd, but also three more rerecorded songs of the cd In the Fields from 1999, a song of Flammende Welt from 2001 and a song from a compilation cd entitled Europa Aeterna, which was released in 2005 by Hemdallr. The songs on Weltenwende come from different times in the existence of the band Darkwood. You will therefore find tranquil melancholic neofolk songs with guitar and violin, characterized by a romantic longing for nature (‘Der Falken Flug’, ‘Im Heimatwald’, ‘Tochter des Waldes’, ‘Winter’) and fascination with the human struggle and war (‘Epitaph’, ‘Torn Nation’) or times long gone (‘Wiederkehr’, ‘Deutscher Sonnwend’), as well as experiments with martial and industrial influences on this album. An example of the latter you will hear in ‘Der Schlaffende’, which perfectly shows the avantgarde influences with Darkwood. Darkwood pleases many fans with this release since the vinyl release wasnt available for a long time. Darkwood is one of the better neofolk bands and this is a recommended release!
