Beside ‘Imperia’ Helena Iren Michaelsen now treats us on ‘Angel’, another project by this woman with the golden voice. ‘Angel’ has the exact same line-up as ‘Imperia’, but will turn into a different direction, more songs to listen too instead of tracks to rock on. ‘Don’t Wanna Run’ is an exclusive teaser single, only available to the bands and the record labels websites.
‘Don’t Wanna Run’ is a ballad that could easily been on Imperia’s album: ‘The Ancient Dance of Qetesh’. It’s a solid song, and
Helena tries to give everything she has. Sadly it doesn’t all sound too well, the song sounds if it was recorded in one day. ‘Mother’ is another ballad, a song about
Helena’s mother who died. The words are beautiful, and it is sung with a lot of emotion. This song is better then the title track!
‘Heaven’ doesn’t bring much news: another ballad. Its quality is between the first and the second track, this one is sung very pure,
Helena hits the high notes perfectly. ‘Darkness’ is something completely different and unexpected.
Helena screams, whispers, cries and we hear her voice on a way we never heard it before. It reminds me of Kate Bush when she sings ‘bitchy’, and I would love to hear more experiments like this on the forthcoming Angel album ‘A Woman’s Diary: Chapter I’.
‘Angel’ is a recommendation for everyone who’s fond of
Helena’s voice, ‘Don’t Wanna Run’ gives a good impression of what she capable of. ‘Angel’s debut album will be released early summer this year; this single is a god teaser of what’s yet to come.
