Originally from the "Deep South", Sylvi migrated westward, bringing with her the haunted strains of spanish moss and antebellum ruins. First landing in Seattle, where she was active in the ambient/industrial music scene, then moving to the SF bay area, where she currently resides. Her music runs a spectrum from dark gothic ballads to more whimsical, experimental songscapes. She also composes and records music for film, theatre, and dance.
Discography:
A HUNDRED BIRDS (2007)
DREAM OF THE BLUE MOTH, music for film & theatre (2003)
UNDER A SHIPWRECKED MOON (s'track) (2002)
TOO NEAR THE GHOSTS (2001)
Excerpts from reviews of TOO NEAR THE GHOSTS:
"...Alli's songs are strung together like a necklace of rare black melancholic pearls, each as much a celebration of the soul's dark night as they are laments. They are not sad songs, but rather deep songs. Her muse guides us through the internal landscape of exquisite reflection, and we are left with a greater appreciation for the inner life, no matter where we are." Alexander Finn
"...Sylvi has a haunting, heavenly voice that quickly finds the resonant frequency of your heart and shakes it to pieces..." Sam Hurwitt
DREAM OF THE BLUE MOTH:
"Sylvi sings in a musical language all her own. The results are slyly trance-inducing, not in the way of stupor but more like serious enchantment. Blue Moth is the soundtrack for dreams you know you have had but could not remember upon waking the next morning. This is music for the soul awakening from deep dreams. These are songs of reckoning."
